Q: How do I book a party?

Q: When is the best time to reach you?
A: Our party planner is available Wednesday-Friday from 11am-6pm. If you are unable to call during those hours, please leave us a detailed message or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and someone will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Q: What if my party is 9 people or less?
A: We require a credit card number (Visa, American Express, MasterCard or Discover) when taking weekend reservations for 8 or more.
Q: What if I need to cancel my reservation?
A: We require two week's notice for cancellations. There is a $50 cancellation fee for any missed or late cancellations unless we are able to fill the table from our wait list.
Q: Is a deposit required for reserving a party?
A: We do not take a deposit, however we do require a credit card number (Visa, American Express, MasterCard or Discover) in order to confirm a reservation. There is a $50 charge for missed reservations or cancellations within two weeks of the reservation.
Q: How soon should I book my party?
A: Large parties tend to book approximately 6-8 weeks ahead. We do occasionally have earlier openings, so please call for availability.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: We offer two tea service options for parties: High Tea is our most popular tea service and is $28.17 per person, including tax and gratuity. Queen's Tea is our most deluxe tea service and is $37.15 per person, including tax and gratuity. We request that you give us your final headcount and tea service selection 48 hours prior to your event.
Q: What happens if I have guests that don't show up?
A: You are responsible for the number of tea services confirmed in your final headcount, which we require 48 hours prior to your date.
Q: What are your seating times for parties?
A: We offer two 2-hour seatings: 11:00am 1:00pm and 4:00pm 6:00pm.
Q: What is your capacity for parties?
A: Our party area can be reserved for up to 20 people.
Q: Is there a private room?
A: Lovejoy’s consists of one large room, which seats up to 48. A portion of the room is reserved for parties, while the rest of the room is made available for smaller bookings.
Q: What tea service do you offer for children attending a party?
A: We offer our Wee Tea service for children 10 and under. The cost is $23.03. Please see the main Menu page for a detailed description of what is included.
Q: Is two hours enough time?
A: Our experience is that two hours is ample time for you and your guests to enjoy tea service, open gifts and play games. If you would like to book more time, you may purchase an additional 30 minutes for $150 for groups of 10-14, and $200 for groups of 15-20. Additional time must be committed to at the time of booking.
Q: Can we bring/open gifts?
A: Yes, we have a gift area set-up for parties.
Q: Are we allowed to play games?
A: Absolutely! We have found that games that are played at the table work best.
Q: Tell me more about the Tea Leaf/Tarot Reader.
A: You may select either tea leaf or Tarot readings for your party. The fee is $120 an hour, with additional time available in 15 minute increments. Approximately 6 people can be read per hour.
Q: May I bring a cake or cupcakes?
A: Yes. There is a $2 per plate cake cutting fee, and a $5 fee for cupcakes which we can plate for you on one of our serving tiers.
Q: Can/should I bring in decorations?
A: The tea room is very festive, but you are welcome to bring in additional decorations. Balloons, flower arrangements and banners are welcome. We do ask that you skip the confetti as it likes to nestle into our lace table cloths.
Q: Anything extra I can do to make my party special?
A: Absolutely! You can order customized party favors from our shop, Lovejoy's Attic, or you can book our tea leaf/Tarot reader to make your event even more memorable!
Q: How is the parking/transportation?
A: We are located in a semi-residential part of Noe Valley. There is 2-hour restricted parking on weekdays, but parking is unrestricted on the weekends. If you are interested in taking public transportation, the “J-Church” Muni line drops off at our corner (Church and Clipper). We are also located 7 blocks from the 24th St. Bart station (a 20-minute walk).
Q: I've booked my party, now what?
A: We will contact you the week of to finalize your headcount, set your menu (tea service selection and a variety of 6 sandwich selections), and to go over any last minute details.
Q: Are we able to split the check?
A: We are happy to accommodate split checks, however we do ask that it be limited to four credit cards. On those occasions where each guest will be paying for their own tea service, we will gladly give you an exact per person total in advance, including tax and gratuity, so that arrangements can be made in advance.
